Dream Bedroom

Five ways to personalise and revamp your bedroom!

The bedrooms are my least favourite part of our house. They're quite small so there's not a lot we can do with them but I've come up with five must-do ideas that should transform them.

Quirky Headboards

I think the easiest and most powerful way to transform a boring bed, or even bedroom, is with an amazing headboard. For our room, I want to put a chalkboard wall behind the bed so that we can draw our own bed frame and change the design whenever we like. As for the guest room, I'm obsessed with the idea of making a cinema-style letter wall, so that we can put up our guests names in a Now Showing style way!

Bedside Lamp

A bedside lamp can pretty up your bedroom while giving you light to read. I'm torn between a pin-prick shade which will send pretty reflections around the room and an ultra chic scrap fabric shade. Perhaps I'll make both!

Cosy Bedding

Pair your awesome headboard with some cosy bedding for the perfect place to lay your head. There's nothing more inviting than a colourful patchwork quilt and lots of fluffy pillows and cushions.

Fairy Lights

Fairy lights make everything better. Even if you're room is empty, you can turn off the lights and turn on some fairy lights to be transported in to a magical happy place. I'm planning on making some fairy light paintings as well as hanging lights behind sheer curtains to transform our bedroom.

Pretty Art

There's no better way to bring add own personality to a room and show off your creative skills than with some DIY art for the walls. It doesn't even have to be good - just use lots of colour and go crazy. The melted crayon art on CO+K is a great idea.

Cher from Clueless

Plaid, knee high socks, fluffy pens and bubble gum!

This week I'm going to DIY the look of Cher from Clueless. Pull up your knee high socks and let's get started...

Clueless was one of my favourite movies growing up and looking back, I'm not sure why Cher was one of my style icons in high school. After spotting a how-to for the perfect fluffy pen, this DIY the look was just far too fun not to do.

  1. Turn a t-shirt in to a cardigan with Zornista A.
  2. Chat to Dee in between classes on your customized phone like Beverly Z.
  3. Accessorize with a fabulous pair of felt heart earrings by Maleikie
  4. Make your own fluffy pen with Joanne N to note down important clueless thoughts.
  5. Feel flirty in a pleated mini skirt by Laura N.
  6. Sew your own version of Chantelle Fashion's DIY elegant lace shirt.
  7. Carry your shopping in Mayra Deezy's easy peasy tote.
  8. Pull on a pair of fairy kei knee high socks like Annika G.
  9. Try to look intelligent for Josh with a pair of Imagine's zebra glasses.
  10. Pair with some gold or silver nautical flats by Jenna C.
  11. Get the Malibu look with KMOM14's nail art.

Which was your favourite movie growing up and who was your childhood style icon?

Wardrobe Mix-Up

Chalky hair, embellished tights, DIY necklaces, satchels and pretty collars!

I'm getting a little bored of my winter wardrobe but it's not warm enough to ditch the wooly tights and bring out summer dresses just yet, so I've come up with five ways to mix up my wardrobe and get me through until Summer...

Pretty Tights

It's still quite cold here in Scotland so a cute pair of tights is the perfect way to keep cosy. I love the ones that are embellished with beads, sequins and buttons.

DIY Necklaces

Sadly I'm allergic to jewellery that's not made from silver or gold, so my necklace collection is a little limited. I've got so many ideas for cute necklace, so I want to make a whole variety that I can mix and match with the same silver chain.

Chalk Hair Colours

I'm a little obsessed with blackboard paint and chalk at the moment but I'd never thought of using it to add colour to my hair. It looks like it works really well so I can't resist adding some purple tips to my hair for at least one day this month.

Personalized Satchels

Satchels are my ideal bag at the moment but they're everywhere, so I'm going to add monograms to and customising mine to make them more personal.

Cute Collars

I love love love Peter Pan collars. I was sent a sharp crochet hook, which lets you pierce through fabric, so I'm going to teach myself how to crochet pretty collars on to my tops and dresses.

How would you mix up your wardrobe for Spring?

Kate Moss

Denim shorts, studded belts, muddy boots & festival chic!

It's almost festival season so this week I'm going to DIY the look of Kate Moss because no-one can rock a pair of muddy wellies better...

556142_10150862732993523_511353522_11641940_1511208826_n

Kate is the queen of British fashion - whether in designer couture, London street fashion or muddy festival wear. There were so many looks to choose from but I think her festival look is the most useful at this time of year, so let's get crafty:

  1. Create a fire & ice make-up look with help from Belladonna B.
  2. Look edgy with Cherrie's D.I.Y zipper necklace.
  3. Make sure you never miss a call with an antenna bag from Switch Craft.
  4. Fill up your wrists with lots of bracelets and wristbands like Tasha M.
  5. Dress up a little with Michelle G's deconstructed waistcoat.
  6. Paint a set of glam striped nails with Acis S. D.
  7. Add some designer to your look with carlyjcais's Burberry warrior belt.
  8. Glam up your wellies (or heels if you dare) with boot covers also by carlyjcais.
  9. Turn jeans in to peek a boo pocket shorts with under the misletoe.
  10. Complete the look with Casey I's wire wrapped ring.

What's your favourite festival outfit?
